Gated Estate With Private Lake to Sell at Alexander Auction

Published January 2nd, 2009

Alexander Auctions and Real Estate Sales (www.alexanderauctions) today announced an absolute auction of the Gurien estate on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 9 a.m., according to Marvin Alexander, auctioneer.

Located at 1707 East Reelfoot Avenue in Union City, this 21-acre estate was built by Jerry and Patsy Gurien in 1988. Jerry Gurien owned Gurien Finishing Company which developed a process to stone-wash blue jeans and denims.

“The Gurien Finishing Company has sold their industrial facility,” explained Alexander. “The Guriens have retired and moved to a smaller home. We are very excited to offer this estate at absolute auction.”

The real estate portion of the estate includes a 7,009 square foot home on 21 acres with a 5 acre lake inside security gated privacy walls within the city limits of Union City. The home features 18 and 10-foot ceilings, 10 rooms, four fireplaces, and 3.5 baths. There is a cabana pool house, octagon lake house, and covered marina. The property also has a separate shop building with office, living quarters and garage. The real estate will be offered in two tracts or as a whole.

“This is a three-winged residence with seven exterior entrances, fabulous decor and built-ins,” Alexander noted. “Improvements are located on top of a level hill with circular driveways lined by retaining walls, beautiful landscaping and a pecan grove.”

Alexander explained that the estate adjoins other residential properties and is across the street from modern, commercial medical facilities, including doctor’s offices, clinics and a retirement home.

“This property would be ideal for redevelopment as a bed and breakfast, motel, restaurant or retirement center,” noted Alexander. “It would also be suited to medical offices, industry headquarters or entertainment park.”

He added, “The man-made five-acre lake is better than being on any public lake. It has a nice rock shoreline with asphalt drive surrounding deep water stocked with fish, featuring a concrete fountain and suitable for personal watercraft, pontoon boats and motorboats.”

Personal property up for auction includes Ruger shotguns, wildlife prints, tractors, all-terrain vehicles, farm, yard and shop equipment, horse-drawn carriages, furniture, restaurant equipment and more.

The auction will be conducted on-site with live online bidding available thru Proxibid. Open house will be Sunday, January 4, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. All bidding is open to the public.
