Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks Items for Auction Nov 22-23

More than 700 antiques, fine and decorative art, furniture and Hollywood memorabilia will be available at the Pickfair Estate Auction presented by Julien’s Auctions at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, and broadcast live in high definition with real‐time bidding on Auction Network on Nov. 22-23, 2008, starting at 1p E/10a P both days.

Mary Pickford was known as “America’s Sweetheart” during Hollywood’s Golden Age of silent films. Together with Douglas Fairbanks, Pickford became “Hollywood Royalty” and during their marriage they created Pickfair, the legendary Beverly Hills mansion that hosted dignitaries, foreign heads of state and all the major celebrities of the day including Charlie Chaplin, Albert Einstein and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Unique items up for bid include Mary Pickford’s personal autograph book, select pieces of Pickford’s jewelry collection and rare artworks including two oil-on-canvas still life paintings by Paul de Longpre’ and Philip Mercier.
