Boston Cape & Island license plate auction

Online bidding begins Tuesday for the plates, with the minimum bid $10,000 for plate numbers 1-10. Bidding begins at $1,000 for plate numbers 11-100 and $100 for plate numbers 101-999. The end times for the auctions varies by plate, and are posted on the auction Web site.
Winning bidders will get their plates at Registry of Motor Vehicles branches in late August.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit several non-profit organizations on Cape Cod.
