Asian art dominated the sale, with a Chinese carved stone figure, estimated $1,000 - $2,000, realizing $5,750. The figure stands 50” tall, aided by a 9” stone base. A Japanese metal charger from the Meiji period also wowed attendees. The charger is composed of gold, silver, copper and bronze and bears a signature on its reverse side. The Meiji period, which spanned 1868 - 1912, occurred during the restored rule of the eponymous emperor. This important piece more than tripled its original high estimate, reaching an astounding $16,100.
