Geauga Lake Fairground Big Dipper Auctioned

Published June 18th, 2008

The Big Dipper, an icon of Northeast Ohio since 1925, was the star of an auction Tuesday intended to clear the now closed Geauga Lake amusement park of its contents. It sold for $5,000.

Experts have said moving and reconstructing the 119-year-old wooden coaster could cost $1 million. The sale is subject to approval by the park’s owners, Cedar Fair Entertainment.
