Medina Toy Museum Saved by Auction

Published April 20th, 2008

300 plus items auctioned were part of the collection at the Medina Toy and Train Museum. Over one hundred other people bid online. The auction is expected to have raised up to $5,000.

The items were auctioned off to help pay for the operating costs at the museum, said Chuck Sword, the museum’s president.

“We’ve had trouble keeping the doors open, so we decided to sell off items that we haven’t displayed and are still in boxes,” Sword said. The board of directors decided to sell off the unused part of the collection rather than charge patrons a fee to enter the museum, which opened in 2000.
