1802 half dime makes $345,000

An 1802 half dime graded AU-50 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp. sold for $345,000 in David Lawrence Rare Coin Auctions Internet-only Auction #225.

The sale, which closed March 3, featured the Hoosier collection and realized $1,088,981.

The Hoosier collection, a private collection of 145 lots of early better-date and type coins, was auctioned along with a type set of 1802 coinage, including the 1802 half dime that was once part of the John J. Pittman collection.
