Connecticut Stratford Army Engine Plant Sale

The former Stratford Army Engine Plant on the Housatonic River near Long Island Sound has been vacant for more than a decade formally used for manufacturing engines for Abrams tanks and military helicopters.
“Point Stratford, formerly known as the Stratford Army Engine Plant in Stratford, Connecticut, is an 78 acre redevelopment opportunity in Fairfield County. The Department of the Army and the General Services Administration are offering the brownfield property for sale on an “as is” basis, transferring all environmental remediation obligations to the buyer.”
One bid, for $1 million from a group identified as GrnAcre, has already been logged on the government website, and more are expected in the final days of bidding
The property is the first the government has auctioned in Connecticut, the GSA said. Bidding is ongoing and could close as early as March 4.
