Steer makes $185,000 at Fort Worth auction

Grand Champion European Crossbred steer, Warrior, sold for $185,000 at the stock show’s Sale of Champions.

XTO Energy outbid companies such as Coors Distributing and Coca-Cola Bottling to buy the grand champion again this year. XTO has bought the grand champion for four straight years..

“This is good for the community and great for the kids,” said XTO chairman and chief executive officer Bob Simpson. “I grew up on a farm in West Texas, so I know what is involved in raising livestock.”

Warrior will be donated to the Fort Worth Zoo

This year’s auction made more than $1.9 million in sales, stock show officials said.
