Bankruptcy filing halts Georgetown auction

Published February 2nd, 2008

Developers of the unfinished Harmony Township community in Georgetown have filed for bankruptcy, the latest effort in their struggle to find a buyer to complete the neighborhood.

Harmony Holdings LLC and Spanish Moss Development LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday, just in time to save the development from a public auction that was scheduled for Monday.

About 352 acres - nearly half of the 799-acre development - would have been up for grabs. www.myrtlebeachonline.com
