Omaha Sports for Kids auction set for Saturday

The 18th annual Sports for Kids auction is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the German-American Society, 3717 S. 120th St., and will benefit the Sports for Kids Foundation in its mission of assisting special needs children.

Among the items is a Nebraska football helmet signed by Johnny Rodgers, Mike Rozier, Eric Crouch, Dave Rimington, Aaron Taylor, Tommie Frazier, Roger Craig and Will Shields. Tom Osborne, Bo Pelini and the NU football staff provided autographed footballs.

There also are team-signed basketballs from Creighton and the Nebraska men’s and women’s teams. The University of Nebraska at Omaha provided autographed jerseys and posters.

Other items for auction include:

• Major league baseball trips for two or four people, vacation trips to such places as Las Vegas, San Antonio, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Branson, Mo., and Reno, Nev., and golf vacations to Arizona and Wisconsin.

• Autographed baseballs, baseball bats, basketballs, footballs, football mini helmets, jerseys, photos, posters and golf prints from former pro athletes, coaches and college athletes and teams.
