Effingham YMCA to sell building at auction Feb. 2

The Effingham County Family YMCA will auction off its current building next month, and officials are making plans for how they will proceed with programming this fall.

The current YMCA building on Wenthe Drive will be up for public auction on Feb. 2, with the YMCA holding the right to stay in the building until Sept. 1, said Bill Totten, president of the YMCA board of directors.

“We determined that it is in the financial best interest of the Y to sell the current facility and focus on being a storefront Y and continue offering some programs without the overhead and maintenance of the current facility,” he said.
