Heritage Auction Galleries Coin Sale – Jan 9-12
Published December 24th, 2007
High-grade examples of U.S. coinage from from Colonial times to modern, will be offered by Heritage Auction Galleries in its Platinum Night sale session, part of the firm’s Jan. 9-12 Florida United Numismatists auction.
The consignment, dubbed the Madison Collection, features a 1933 Indian Head $10 graded MS-65 by Professional Coin Grading Service.
This collection alone is valued at $10 million, the auction firm says, calling it the anchor of the Platinum Night sale.
“The collector sought a representative of everything that had passed for money in the geographical United States, from Colonial to modern times,” said Greg Rohan, president of Heritage.
A few highlights from the Madison Collection include a 1652 NE shilling, graded AU-50 by Numismatic Guaranty Corp.; 1652 Oak Tree shilling, NGC MS-65 and a Libertas Americana bronze medal, NGC MS-63 Brown.
