Langs Sporting Collectibles fishing tackle auction

Fisherman are expected to vist Boxborough, Massachusetts this weekend for an auction of rare fishing memorabilia.

The event, is taking place at the town’s Holiday Inn.

Possibly the rarest is one of only three known 7.5-inch metal minnow hooks made by Riley Haskell in 1859 which is expected to sell for $50,000 (ÂŁ24,000).

Also going under the hammer at the Lang’s Sporting Collectibles tackle auction are antique rods and reels and an oak and metal chair, which had been bolted to the deck of boats belonging to famous deep-sea fisherman Zane Grey. This item has a guide price of $7,500 to $10,000.

The auction is being held to raise funds for The Carter Centre which campaigns against the spread of diseases in the developing world.
