San Antonio Geologist, Phil Mani’s 1,410-pound piece of space rock that was expected to sell at auction Sunday at Bonhams in New York for up to $700,000, was withdrawn after it drew a top bid of only $200,000.

The meteorite, dug out of a Kansas farm field in 2005, is co-owned by Mani; Steve Arnold, an Arkansas meteor hunter who found it; and Allen Binford, who owns the wheat field near Greensburg, Kan., where it was discovered.

“I’m disappointed” said Mani, a San Antonio lawyer and geologist.
