Sonoma Valley Wine Auction raises $1.2M

Tthe 15th annual Sonoma Valley Harvest Wine Auction raised $1.2 million this weekend.
“We really exceeded our goal,” said Grant Raeside, executive director of the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance, which sponsors the weekend of events. “We’re extremely excited about our results.”
Eleven Valley nonprofits will see a boost in their budget thanks to the auction, which benefits Vineyard Workers Services, Boys & Girls Club Valley of the Moon, WillMar Center for Bereaved Children, Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance, Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation, Sonoma Valley Education Foundation, Sonoma Valley Community Health Center, Sonoma Community Center, La Luz, Kenwood Education Foundation and FISH (Friends In Sonoma Helping).
The five top lots included prizes such as a 2007 Toyota Prius, a Barcelona wine trip, a week’s stay at a private home in Italy, a trip to Buenos Aires and Argentina’s Mendoza Valley, and a week at a private “castle” in Costa Rica. Those top-drawing lots included:
Lot 25 — Benziger Family Winery, 2007 Toyota Prius / Wine cave dinner, $72,000.
Lot 17 — Gloria Ferrer Winery, Barcelona wine trip, $20,000.
Lot 56 — Stay at private home in Italy, $19,000.
Lot 13 — Trip to Buenos Aires and Mendoza Valley, $19,000.
Lot 4 — Audellsa Winery, stay at private Costa Rica “castle,” $17,000.
