Maria Felix items for NY auction
Published July 9th, 2007
The late Mexican film star possessions are to be auctioned at Christie’s in New York next week. Félix was a great collector of paintings, furniture, couture, porcelain and jewellery. She died in 2002, aged 88, after a career which spanned dozens of films, including an iconic role as Doña Barbara, a 1943 Latin American classic.
The lots, due to be auctioned on July 17 and 18, comprise an eclectic hoard of gilt and brocade-heavy European antiques and Latin American art. A portion of the auction proceeds will benefit the Mexican Red Cross.
