Troy classic car auction takes millions

Published June 12th, 2007

A Troy car dealer drove dozens of his collector cars to the auction block Saturday.

John McMullen liquidated part of his diverse private car collection, including a 1931 Duesenberg that sold for one-point-three-five million dollars and a GMC potato truck that fetched 30-thousand dollars.
Other auctioned cars included limited-edition models of the 1953 Buick Skylark and 1953 Cadillac Eldorado. Both sold for 450-thousand dollars.

The 79-year-old McMullen owns a Pontiac GMC dealership in Troy. He says it was time for someone else to enjoy the cars he bought and restored himself.
