The Hard Rock hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is set today to hold an auction of all kinds of memorabilia having to do with the “King of Pop”, himself, Michael Jackson.

The auction has received much interest as of late as Jackson and his lawyers had been trying to block the auction from happening, but after realizing they had no legal claim to the merchandise, the lawsuit was settled, and the auction will go on. Whether Jackson will attend the auction is still unknown.

Jackson, now 48, has spent the past few years getting ready for a return to the world of pop music after being acquitted in 2005 on child molestation charges in California.

Some of the items included in today’s auction include a militaristic red coat with gold rope that was designed by Bill Whitten, that belonged to Jackson. Also, the contract to his 187 $30 million purchase of the ever popular “Neverland” ranch.

The collection up for auction is one so huge, we will probably never see a complete collection auctioned that will rival Jacksons.

The former owner of the collection was Henry Vaccaro, a New Jersey businessman. He acquired the memorabilia after a failed business deal wound up in bancruptcy court. Universal went on to buy the items from Vaccaro for $5 million and proceeded to transport them to Las Vegas, a cost of an additional $2 million. Lloyd’s of London then insured the items for more than $100 million.
