Harrisburg American Indian and Western artifact auction

Harrisburg’s mayor spoke out on Friday about plans to auction off thousands of American Indian and Western artifacts.

The city of Harrisburg, under the mayor spent an estimated eight million dollars on the collection.

Reed had hoped to establish a Wild West Museum at Reservoir Park. Instead, the artifacts are being sold to help fill a hole in the city’s budget.

Mayor Reed says he’s disappointed about the decision.

“Well, I am past that point, so now we have to get to the business of selling them. It’s unfortunate, that some have little or no vision regarding Harrisburg’s future,” said Mayor Stephen Reed.

The artifacts will be sold in a 4-day auction in October.
