Published February 7th, 2007
The 13th Annual Georgia 4-H Benefit Horse Auction will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. The auction, co-sponsored by the Georgia Farm Bureau Equine Advisory Committee and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service, will begin at 11:30 a.m., in the covered horse arena.
“All proceeds from the sale will be used to benefit the Georgia 4-H Horse Program and horse research conducted by the University of Georgia which benefits all of Georgia’s horse owners” Zippy Duvall, Georgia Farm Bureau president, said. “This annual auction is a great way for horse lovers to support Georgia 4-Hers and research that benefits the health of their horses.”
At least 13 horses ranging in age from 2 to 13 years of age will be sold during the auction. Most of the horses are quarterhorses, but the auction list also includes a Paso Fino and thoroughbreds. Horse tack and equipment will also be auctioned during the event.
For a complete list and description of the horses to be auctioned, contact Dr. Gary Heusner, University of Georgia equine specialist, at gheusner@uga.edu or (706)542-9092.
