The Seminole tribe’s acquisition of the Hard Rock Cafe was plunged into controversy when Cordish, a US real estate developer, filed a lawsuit claiming it was shut out of the auction for the restaurant chain.

Cordish submitted documents to a Florida court late on Friday alleging that Hard Rock and Hamish Dodds, its chief executive, colluded with the Native American tribe to reduce competition in exchange for assurances that Mr Dodds would continue to run the company after the deal.
