Drug Dealers Cars Hit Auction Block

From a 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera with a minimum bid of $50,000 to a 1977 Ford LTD II starting at $20, vehicles seized from drug dealers go on the auction block Friday and Saturday at a Thiokol property in Bristol Township.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office will auction off about 75 vehicles in the public sale, officials said.
These are cars with histories, like a 1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SL that county detectives said first carried about 40 kilos of cocaine into New Hope, then served as the setting for many an undercover police recording when the owner got arrested and agreed to wear a recorder and cooperate with authorities investigating his Colombian suppliers.
Frank Dykes, Bucks County chief detective, said the county has raised several million dollars through the sale of confiscated vehicles over the years, plowing the money into undercover officers’ overtime, undercover vehicles and cash for undercover cops to set up drug deals.
