Auctioneer wants $13M for ex-Farmland HQ

The auctioneer of Farmland Industries Inc.’s former headquarters wants at least $13 million for the property near Kansas City International Airport.

The previously undisclosed price, $50 a square foot, was announced to give guidance to prospective bidders, a spokesman for Sheldon Good & Co. Auctions LLC of Chicago said Tuesday.

Sealed bids are due Aug. 17.

The building at 12200 N. Ambassador Drive is mostly vacant. Slightly more than 10 percent of its space is leased to Farmland-related tenants.

Farmland filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2002. Bankruptcy proceedings allowed it reject a lease on its headquarters building that ran through 2015.
