Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club are doing a bit of summer cleaning Thursday by auctioning off stacks of used restaurant and deli equipment, store shelves, benches and even a cardboard baling machine.
“We’re expecting a lot of mom and pop stores, restaurant equipment dealers and wholesalers to stop by,” said Kevin Kelley, an auctioneer with Louisiana-based Bonnette Auction Co., handling the public auction.
The auction house has been handling Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club store auctions for more than 10 years at locations across the country, Kelley said.
More than 250 items to be auctioned off come from Wal-Mart stores across Southern Arizona that are replacing items with newer equipment, said Barbara Bonnette, owner of Bonnette Auction Co.
Those items include 40-foot-long gondola, or stand-alone, shelving; gas rotisserie cookers; coffee and cappuccino makers; and freezers and refrigerators.
There is no cost to attend the auction, Kelley said.
