Baton Rouge seized antiques collection for auction in Mississippi

Published June 9th, 2006

Antique furniture taken from the Baton Rouge home of Deborah Buhler in a July bank seizure will be put on the auction block Saturday at Stevens Auction Co. in Aberdeen, Miss. Buhler’s husband, Ken, an antiques auctioneer, had pledged items in the home as well as a warehouse full of antiques to Mississippi-based State Bank as collateral on loans. State Bank called the loans in last summer, prompting the seizure, which has been surrounded by acrimony. Mrs. Buhler says she made offers to State Bank through an attorney to try to buy back personal items, though those offers weren’t accepted.
