Hunt Auctions DiMaggio collection

Hunt Auctions Inc. will offer items from a New York institution of legend Joe DiMaggio.
More than 1,100 lots from his personal collection will be sold May 19 and 20 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in Times Square, with all items on display Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Session 1, beginning at 1 p.m. May 19, will offer items from DiMaggio’s post-baseball life. Most will sell at “affordable” prices, according to auction officials, although a 51-inch-tall trophy presented on Joe DiMaggio Day, Oct. 1, 1949, is expected to sell for $10,000 to $20,000.
Session 2, at 6 p.m. May 19, will feature items from his World War II military service and his 1947 Most Valuable Player award ($150,000-$250,000). Session 3, at 10 a.m. May 20, will feature World Series rings, MVP pocket watches, and his 1951 World Series home uniform, considered the auction’s most significant item.
Session 4, at 3 p.m. May 20, will feature items pertaining to his marriage to Marilyn Monroe, including a signed photo of her, inscribed “I love you Joe” ($30,000-$40,000).
