Attorney General Tom Reilly today sued three Internet dealers accused of selling stun guns, a high voltage weapon prohibited in Massachusetts. AG Reilly’s lawsuits are part of an ongoing effort to protect Massachusetts citizens, especially youth, from illegal products sold online.

“Stun guns in the wrong hands can be lethal,” AG Reilly said. “We must do everything possible to prevent access, especially by our children, to these dangerous weapons. Online retailers must follow the same rules as ‘bricks and mortar’ storefronts and recognize that these products are illegal and cannot be sold here.”

The suits, filed today in Suffolk Superior Court, allege that the sellers, all of whom operated “stores” on the popular internet auction site eBay, sold stun guns and shipped them into the Commonwealth. Massachusetts law prohibits the sale or possession of electrical weapons, including stun guns. The weapons dealers are:

Personal Protection Outlet of North Port, Florida;
Unique Wholesale, Inc., of Kissimmee, Florida; and
We Care Company of Coppell, Texas.
