A New York man has been charged with grand larceny for an eBay comic book scam that cost his victim $10,000.

Gabriel Mitchell allegedly advertised a collection of rare Spider-Man comics on the Internet auction site and accepted a bid of $19,000 from Shawn Key of Manassas, N.Y., the New York Post reported Friday.

Key said he wired $10,000 to Mitchell’s bank account and received a box of paper in return.

Mitchell, who allegedly said someone named Lester pulled off the scam, was charged in New York Criminal Court Thursday and held in lieu of $25,000 bond.
