Warren Buffett ukulele to be auctioned on eBay

The world’s second-richest person, who runs Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway, plans to auction an autographed ukulele on eBay Inc.’s Web site later this month.
Proceeds will benefit the Omaha Children’s Hospital. Bidding will begin at $1,000 on May 15 at 9 p.m. EDT (0100 GMT May 16), and continue for 10 days.
International Dairy Queen, a unit of Berkshire, said it will display the ukulele in its booth at Berkshire’s May 6 annual meeting in downtown Omaha. More than 20,000 people are expected to attend the meeting.
A Berkshire representative said Buffett was unavailable to comment about the auction. Other well-known ukulele players have included Arthur Godfrey, George Harrison and Tiny Tim.
In 2003, Buffett used eBay to auction lunches for as many as eight people to benefit the Glide Foundation, a San Francisco non-profit. Previous auctions to benefit Glide had been conducted live.
The ukulele, designed to resemble a Dairy Queen ice cream cone, will likely command far more than $1,000.
Last year, the winning bidder for the charity lunch agreed to pay $351,100 to dine with Buffett.
