Sunriver Forest Land for sale by online auction
Published May 2nd, 2006
The U.S. Forest Service is selling 945 acres of unimproved Deschutes National Forest land near Sunriver through an online auction the General Services Administration is administering.
The land sale is called the Tract C Project and stems from the 2000 Bend Pine Nursery Land Conveyance Act, which authorized the sale or exchange of seven tracts of land that lost its national forest character and are difficult to manage.
The Bend Metro Park and Recreation District purchased 185 acres in northeast Bend for $3.5 million under the act.
The four parcels now for sale are 17 miles south of Bend and are in 617, 104, 183 and 40-acre blocks. Three lie southeast of Sunriver and are near Vandevert Road.
A fourth is southwest of Sunriver and straddles Foster Road. Required minimum bids range from $125,000 to $700,000.
Beautiful scenery, four-season recreation opportunities and nearby golf courses have made the property very valuable. Lots within resort subdivisions near the parcels have sold for between $235,000 and $475,000.
A bid package containing maps, bid requirements and sale terms can be found at http://www.auctionrp.com.
Bids will be opened daily starting May 30 and will be posted at the website.
Contact Diana Hsieh with the Deschutes National Forest at (541) 383-5527 for more information about the property. Copies of the bid package will also be available beginning May 3 at the Deschutes National Forest Headquarters, 1001 S.W. Emkay Drive, Bend.
For information about the bidding process or terms of sale, contact Blaine Hastings, with the General Services Administration, at (253) 931-7550.
