Christie’s Magnificent Jewels Auction

World famous auction house Christie’s will host their annual jewelry sale on Tuesday. The “Magnificent Jewels” collection holds stunning white and colored diamonds.
The “Unmounted Pear-shaped Diamond” is the most pricey possession to come under the hammer.
It weighs approximately 51 carats, and is expected to fetch a whopping four million US dollars.
A Christie’s representative says the pear-shaped diamond is remarkable because of its rare dimensions.
Rahul Kadakia, Vice President of Christie’s said: “It’s flawless,… there are no inclusions in the stone whatsoever, it’s rare in that the stone almost has to be twice as large in its rough form to be able to come to a 50 carat pure diamond of this size.”
Another auction feature is the “The Holy Wreath Necklace”, which contains a 42 carat yellow pear-shaped diamond. Its part of a collection from the estate of Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc. The necklace has an estimated value of 700,000 US dollars.
