Community not served by DA forfeited-gun sale

Full Story
No law prohibits Richard Gray, District 27 district attorney, from auctioning off 150 forfeited guns, but sales such as this send out the wrong message to the community.

Gray is conducting the auction of seized and forfeited guns and other items through the Montana Trading Co. this Saturday. Gun buyers must complete a background check prior to the sale.

Despite the precaution and the fact the auction performs legally protected transactions, law enforcement is supposed to be about taking guns off the street, not putting them back out there.

The Muskogee Police Department, and many other departments and district attorney offices, stopped conducting auctions of guns years ago for that very reason. They have the guns destroyed.
