Dells Speedway for Sheriff’s auction
Published April 8th, 2006
Dells Motor Speedway owner Bryan Severson owes more than $860,000 in a judgement of foreclosure.
Gulf Coast Bank and Trust Company filed foreclosure action against Severson and the speedway. The debt comes from the now defunct First National Bank of Blanchardville and the $800,000 note it lent to Severson in 2003.
Juneau County Sheriff’s Department office manager Diane Dahl said the Dells Motor Speedway is scheduled to be sold at a Sheriff’s sale on May 9 at 11 a.m. Dahl said it was originally scheduled for April 4, but was rescheduled.
Severson listed the speedway on eBay for $2 million. His listing, item 4450060474, reads, “This racetrack was financially affected by the closing of a small town bank in Southern Wisconsin.
“For the past three years, this racetrack has struggled to stay open, while the property was tied up in court. The new bank, which bought the loan from the failed bank for .10 cents on the dollar, refused for the past two years to provide a payoff for the loan.
“With the decision of the court on Feb. 28, 2006, and just over a month before the opening day of the 2006 season, the speedway needs to be operated or sold.”
Listing the speedway on eBay was a decision Severson and his attorney came up with to help alleviate some debt and keep the racetrack running.
