Vargas and Volstad Jersey Auctions Open on eBay April 1st

The home jersey of former Jamestown Jammers Jason Vargas (#40, 2004) and Chris Volstad (#31, 2005) will officially be up for auction on eBay starting at 12:00 AM on Saturday, April 1, 2006.
The #40 jersey was worn by Jason Vargas when he played for the Jammers in 2004. A second round draft pick by Florida in 2004, Vargas made his professional debut with the Jammers and posted a 3-1 record with a 1.96 ERA while striking out 41 batters in 41.1 innings pitched while he was in Jamestown. Vargas made his Major League debut with the Marlins on July 14, 2005, less than one year after leav-ing Jamestown. He posted 5-5 record and a 4.03 ERA in 17 games for the Marlins in 2005. He is cur-rently scheduled to be the forth starter in the Marlins rotation and is scheduled to make his first start of the 2006 regular season on April 7, 2006 versus the New York Mets at Shea Stadium.
The #31 jersey was worn by Chris Volstad when he played for the Jammers last summer. Chris was select by the Marlins with the 16th overall pick in the 2005 June Amateur Entry Draft out of Palm Beach Gardens High School in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was the first of five players drafted by the Marlins before the second round in 2005. The 6′ 7″ Starting Pitcher is currently ranked as the #97 overall Minor League prospect by Baseball America and the #4 prospect in the Marlins system. While in Jamestown Volstad had a record of 3-2 with a 2.13 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched. He will likely be starting the 2006 season with the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
