Old Town Hall for Auction

Published March 29th, 2006

The old Twinkletown Airport hangar — now a building surplus warehouse on U.S. 61 at Church Road — will be auctioned through Roebuck Auctions on April 6.

Inspections will take place from noon to 2 p.m. today. A $25,000 cashier’s check is required in order to bid.
“It’s an absolutely wonderful piece of property,” said Wayne Laury, co-owner of 61 Surplus, which purchased the 2.9-acre property about a year ago.

Laury, 37, said the property is for sale because 61 Surplus is expanding into the scrap metal business. The 29,000-square-foot building is currently zoned commercial, which prohibits scrap metal.
