Oktibbeha County Golf course owners to auction 73 properties
Published March 23rd, 2006
Seventy-two residential housing lots and the executive house at the Highlands Plantation Golf Course will be auctioned at noon Friday.
Property owners of the land hope to sell the property in the auction, allowing them to begin developing more than 200 acres of undeveloped land south of Highway 182.
Highlands Plantation includes about 100 residential houses and a dozen duplexes along an 18-hole golf course. The development also has 70 rental houses located along High 82.
The auction will allow investors, home builders and families to buy lots at an auction price, said Johnny Mitchum, vice president of business development for Roebuck Auctions, based in Memphis. The auction company’s Web site said that all lots must be sold.
People from Virginia, California, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee and other areas with connections to Mississippi State University have contacted Roebuck Auctions about the property.
Prospective buyers can inspect property today and pre-register for the auction from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Highland’s Plantation club house, 1900 Stirling Drive.
Highlands Plantation is the only development in Oktibbeha County with resort status, which allows the sale of alcohol anytime during the day, seven days a week.
