Published January 19th, 2006

Thirty-two acres of Arizona State Trust Land located in the Desert Ridge area of north Phoenix will open for bid Thursday morning at $28.25 million.

The land is along the northeast corner of the Loop 101 and 56th Street.

“We just completed the most successful year in our history with over $500 million in sales revenue,” said Mark Winkleman, state land commissioner.

“I hope this first auction of 2006 will be the start of a new record year and we well be able to deliver more millions of dollars to Arizona public education.”

Revenue from State Trust Land auctions benefit Arizona public schools covering kindergarten through the 12th grade.

The auction begins at 10 a.m. at the Arizona State Land Department, 1616 W. Adams St., Phoenix.
