Pocatello Police Online Auctions

The Pocatello Police Department is looking to contract with a California-based auction service to sell confiscated items.
The service would relieve the department of the burden of storing and maintaining the items until a local auction is available.
The service would pick up the items from the police department, clean and sell them, and send the department a check.
Captain Nelson, Pocatello Police Department: “And if it’s a large amount of property we end up having to rent storage sheds off site, which costs us money, and there’s a security issue as well, because it’s stored off-site. We’d prefer to do this four or five times a year – six times a year through this company through this company where they come and pick it up rather than hold the items for greater length of time.”
The police auctions held locally are not a large source of revenue. After the store, maintenance, transportation and sale, the auctions bring in a couple thousand dollars.
