Old Jail sold on eBay

Randolph County Commissioner Jim Myles thought the county could get more money for the 45,000-square-foot jail — complete with bars and concertina wire — if it was advertised to a wider audience through eBay.”We’ve had requests for information from India, the United Kingdom, Japan,” Myles said.More than 13,000 viewers took a virtual tour online, 120 people requested specific information about the jail and 26 said they planned to bid on the building, which was built in 1910.

The jail sold in about 10 minutes for $36,500. A U.S. missionary living in Romania plans to make it his home.
Chapman reported that Randolph County got the idea from neighboring Howard County. They recently auctioned off its former jail and sheriff’s residence on eBay.
