Local authority makes money on eBay

The Waukesha Water Utility ended up getting more than $70,000 for a used front-end loader and backhoe, far more than the offer from an equipment supplier of $5,000 plus a new piece of machinery retailing at $35,000, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported. Executives have decided to spend part of the profits buying the Bobcat while the rest goes into the general fund.
“I’ve haven’t heard of other municipalities using the Internet to sell equipment,” Curtis A. Witynski, assistant director of the League of Wisconsin Municipalities told the newspaper. “It seems that Waukesha was able to tap into a much larger market by using eBay.”
