Ritchie Bros Completes US$23 Million Houston Sale
Published November 23rd, 2005
Over 2,100 bidders from 31 countries including 48 U.S. states and 10 Canadian provinces registered to participate in Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers’ (TSX:RBA)(NYSE:RBA) Houston, TX unreserved auction last week. Bidders vied for 2,542 trucks and industrial equipment items on Thursday and Friday, November 17 and 18, generating a total of over US$23 million in gross auction sales.
“We hosted bidders from as far away as the United Kingdom, India, Argentina and Kuwait during this auction,” said Alan McVicker, Ritchie Bros. Regional Manager. “In fact, international demand was even higher than in our August auction - almost 30% of the trucks and equipment by value went overseas. That international cross-section of bidders means that Ritchie Bros. is continuing to match worldwide demand with local supply and provide a way for consignors to get global market value for their assets.”
The sale’s strong attendance included the participation of 612 online bidders, who registered to bid using the Ritchie Bros. online bidding service, rbauctionBid-Live, and accounted for more than US$4.5 million of the auction’s total sales dollars. The service allows customers to participate in the Company’s unreserved auctions over the internet in real-time from anywhere in the world.
