Andy Warhol’s 1981 silkscreen “$.” Produced as part of a series of similar works in the early 1980’s, it is perhaps one of Warhol’s most succinct commentaries on American Pop Culture.

At over 40 square feet, the anonymous buyer of this work paid almost $245 per square inch, and with the final selling price exceeding $1.5 million, it is a record auction price for a work from the $ series.
