Royal Crest Mobile Home and RV Park at 2025 E. Jemez Road will be auctioned on Dec. 15.
Some 45 current homeowners met Tuesday night at First Baptist Church on Diamond Drive to discuss purchasing the park themselves.”We are tired of having so many different owners,” said Jane Furth, secretary of the nonprofit organization being formed to look at buying Royal Crest.

“The homeowners want to purchase and manage the park in an effort to keep rents at a reasonable rate.”The suggested opening bid is $2.85 million for the property, which includes 178 home sites currently at 78.09 percent occupancy, according to auctioneers Sheldon Good & Company.
Jim Carrigan is president of the Royal Crest Homeowners Association and is leading the purchase effort.
