Tucson online to sell unclaimed and confiscated property

Published November 8th, 2005

Truck engines, used cars, electronics, backpacks and clothes are among the items the city has put up for sale on the Web site it’s using to replace traditional live auctions of surplus, unclaimed and confiscated property. The city bought the http://www.citysurplus.org name, and for the past year it has been offering excess property for sale as soon as it becomes available instead of waiting for the auctions it traditionally held in April and October, said Kathleen Bender of Tucson’s procurement office. It’s free for buyers to use.
