Chicago- Art Institute Pieces Sell For $4.6 Million At Auction

The Art Institute of Chicago has about $4.6 million to spend on new artwork.
Most Popular On NBC5.comClick Here To See What’s Hot Two of the museum’s pieces sold for better-than-expected prices this week at Sotheby’s of New York auction house.A piece by Marc Chagall titled “The Juggler” sold for $4.8 million. Its pre-sale estimate had been between $2.5 million and $3.5 million.And an 1875 Pierre-Auguste Renoir piece that failed to sell at auction in 1997 went for $576,000.The museum said it plans to use the proceeds to buy new works for its 19th century and European paintings collections.
