Virginia Lighthouse Auction

Published October 31st, 2005

Four Virginia lighthouses put on the auction block by the federal government are now in private hands. The beacons will still warn ships away from shallow water, as lighthouses have for the past century and more, but they’ll also have private addresses.

The four were first put up for sale in late August.
