Clarion Hotel in Lansing for auction

Lansing’s 141-room Clarion Hotel & Conference Center is among the properties set to be sold through an auction. The hotel and its 12 1/2-acre plot of land at 3600 Dunckel Road go on the block Nov. 3. The minimum bid is $3.38 million. The hotel’s owners live mainly in Florida and want to retire, said Gordon Greene, manager of accelerated marketing and head of the auction division at Chartwell Group in Ohio. Chartwell is a full-service real estate firm that represents the owners and will hold the auction.”Their feeling was that a traditional negotiative sale might take 12 to 18 months to sell the property,” Greene said. An auction is “very much a growing trend where sellers (can) plan the time of the sale and … set up reasonable terms and conditions of selling a major asset.”
