Freemans Auction House to Host World Preview of the Drambuie Scottish Art Sale

Freemans of Philadelphia is to host a special preview of the key art collection of the world famous Scottish Drambuie Liqueur Company. The collection, which is to be sold by Edinburgh auctioneers Lyon and Turnbull on January 26th and 27th 2006, is one of the most important auctions of Scottish art in 25 years and will be previewed at Freemans on the 11th to 16th October 2005.
Notable masterpieces in the sale include paintings by ‘Scottish Colourists’ Peploe, Cadell and Hunter, contemporaries of the Pennsylvania Impressionists, as well as landscapes by Nasmyth and McCulloch. There is a late work by William McTaggart and the famous Easter Eggs by E. A Hornel which was displayed in Philadelphia in 1905. The early 19th century summer landscape, by Turner’s friend and colleague, John Thomson of Duddingston compliments other acclaimed paintings by Orchardson, Gemmell Hutchison and Sir John Lavery.
The paintings will be sold in Edinburgh on Thursday January 26th and the Wemys Ware, silver, glass, works of art, books and furniture on Friday January 27th 2006
