On Oct. 15, Wiggins will auction off an incredible collection of 61 mint-condition, antique Chevrolets.”It’s 40 years of my life. We’re the only one on the mountain with a one-bedroom house and a 10-car garage. It will be a sad day but in another way an exciting day,” said Wiggins, “probably the biggest thing that’s ever happened in Monteagle.”On the day of the garage sale to end all garage sales, the town’s population of 1,238 could very well triple, according to predictions by auctioneer Dean Kruse, who expects 3,000 Chevy and/or curiosity seekers.”I think the collection will bring over $4 million. Without a doubt, it’s the best Chevrolet collection in the world,” said the president of Kruse International, from Auburn, Ind., who has sold some of the world’s finest car collections. He believes as many as 10 of Wiggins’ cars could fetch more than $100,000 apiece.”I think half of them will set world records,” Kruse said. “The 1957 Chevy fuel-injected Corvette could go over $200,000. The two ‘57 Chevy convertibles should each go over $100,000, and the black one could bring over $200,000.”
